Fred Barr is a noted musician in Chicago Illinois. Having begun performing at age four, his experience now spans six decades. He has performed in over twenty countries, and twenty states. He is a protege and nephew of the late WVON Radio personality icon, Mc Key Fitzhugh; owner of the historic Mckey's Disc Jockey Show lounge; a major promoter of Jazz, Pop, and R&B. Fred is a graduate of VanderCook College of music and is certified as a music instructor by the State of Illinois. He is a composer/arranger; choral/instrumental conductor; and leader of Fred Barr & Organ-ized Sound (a local Jazz combo. He is engaged in independent commercial multimedia production; domestic and international booking; and theatrical appearances as both actor and musician. Additionally, he teaches private voice, piano, beginning band instruments, music theory; and volunteers with the youth music and cultural movement of the SGI-USA, a Buddhist lay organization with a goal of World peace. Fred has worked with local musicians, George Freeman, T.S. Galloway, Dave Grilly, Spike, Rebel, George Goetschel, Generations Big Band, et. al. He is currently freelancing as a Hammond Organ specialist, combining organ, electronic keyboards, and vocals. He has taught for five years in the Chicago Public Schools. His performance style spans many musical genres including Brazilian Jazz, Classical, Country, Folk, Rock, Gospel, and Opera.
